I am so pleased to announce that I have chosen the first author and title for Cherry Dress and will be announcing it all as soon as they sign the contract. We are aiming for a late August publication date.

Submissions will be open again September 1st for poetry collections.

For years, it has been my desire to start a chapbook press that showcases unique and beautiful voices while also striving to keep my morals and values as an editor in place. So often, you see talented writers publishing with sloppy, toxic, or even abusive presses, presses that care only about prestige in the publishing and literary “communities” or, worse, are driven only by a desire to be profitable- chapbook mills that churn out 40+ titles a year and require the author to do all the heavy lifting with presales and advertising.

Well, my friends, I have never been profitable in my life, but I do know good writing when I see it, and I abhor the inner workings and nepotism of the lit/pub world. You will never see me making excuses for racists, and you will never see me rubbing shoulders with sex pests, so you will never have to tell a friend that you are regretful for having published with Cherry Dress. I am here to pick a chapbook, publish that chapbook, and love you forever.

Please submit a manuscript of 15-30 pages (not including TOC and acknowledgements) of poetry. There are no requirements with regard to topic or format, though please take it easy on me this time around as I am new at this. Please include in your cover letter your third person bio as well as any content warnings that your work may need. Please do not send me abusive work. If you have a question regarding whether or not your content is ok, please query me at drunkmonkeyseditorial@gmail.com with the subject line chapbook inquiry before submitting.

This is a new journey for me as an editor and I am sure there will be a learning curve, so please keep that in mind when submitting. It is my only goal to work with you to make your book perfect in every way. I will be reading submissions though 4/1/22 and will choose a manuscript by 5/1/22. There is a cap of 200 submissions.

Publication is tentatively set for 7/1/22.
