IT'S GOOD, ACTUALLY / Drive-Away Dolls (2024) / Devon Webb

Oh you’re all wrong, this was a MASTERPIECE.

Maybe part of the issue here is that people were expecting an Ethan Coen movie, but this is Ethan Coen's Wife's movie. Tricia Cooke I SEE YOU GIRL!!

I really had to look into this shit cos this is a GIRL'S MOVIE FOR THE GIRLS & yeah, it also has multiple women Assistant Directors alongside the pitch-perfect lead performances (I'll get to that) & Tricia's DERANGED editing. The way it happened in my head is that Tricia said 'hey honey, can you help me make this deeply insane movie that won't get funded without your name attached' & he said 'sure babe lemme just stand on set & pretend to be the director, do whatever you want honey & I'll help in any way I can' ......& bitch SHE DID!

Maybe I can understand why it's not everyone's cup of tea ~ it's insane. Pure fuckin crazy. But god, it was one of the greatest cinematic surprises of my life & I drank it UP. The first scene was like, oh god, & then it cut to the next scene & I was like YES GOD. Just a great film for people who are giant sluts for Margaret Qualley for starters, & then when you combine Margaret Qualley with Geraldine Viswanathan, Beanie Feldstein, a whole lot of lesbianism & some of the FUNNIEST cameos I've ever seen in my life? Fuck me with the Senator's penis & call me a whore!

Drive-Away Dolls, you'll always have a place in the cult classics of my heart, & I hope you know the haters are WRONG. Wild at Heart for queer women, idk what else to tell you. Maybe in a decade we'll honour it the way it deserves. Man I'm just thinking about it having flashbacks like you get after great sex: those trippy fuckin sequences? That was real cinema babyyyy! Ethan Coen's Wife's #1 enabler <3
