POETRY / Fearless is living in spite of the things that scare you to death. / Abigail Mitchell

Look now, the sky is gold.
They're dimming the street lights
like a million little stars
and down here from the ground
I see a glow off the pavement.
(Walk me to your car.)
You used to shine so bright but I
watched all of it fade,
repeating history.
(You’re getting sick of how it rains.)
This time around I don't
wait for the sky to clear because
there you are on your knees
begging for forgiveness, begging for
me and I say time can heal most
anything
. You stand
outside my window
throwing pebbles, and you say
see the lights? It's 2 a.m,
the misty morning comes again
and I will shine for you
.
And you say: what you're looking for
has been here the whole time
.
And I say: yes.
With you I'd dance in a storm,
in my best dress:
fearless.

This poem is composed entirely of lyrics from the following Taylor Swift songs, in order of appearance: “The Best Day”, “Hey Stephen”, “Untouchable”, “Tell Me Why”, “Fearless”, “You’re Not Sorry”, “Change”, “Forever & Always”, “Come In With The Rain”, “The Way I Loved You” / “Breathe”, “White Horse”, “Fifteen”, “The Other Side Of The Door”, “Today Was A Fairytale”, “Love Story”, “Superstar”, “Jump Then Fall”, “You Belong With Me”; all from Fearless (2008)
